Activation and Validity
These are pre-registered cards, just insert into your mobile on reaching Vietnam and use. Your validity period begins on first use.
Using the SIM Card
Using the SIM Card for the first time
- Power off your phone
- Insert your new SIM card
- Power on your phone
- Your phone should connect on a GSM/WCDMA/LTE network.
Please also note, using this SIM card to surf Internet or make calls outside Vietnam will significantly reduce the data and voice usage capacity, or even cause the SIM card to be suspended.
Coverage
Vietnamobile is the largest private mobile telecommunications provider in Vietnam. It is a joint-venture of Hanoi Telecom and Hutchison.
Vinaphone is the largest public sector phone network and is subsidiary of state owned VNPT.
Receiving calls
People in Vietnam can just dial your number directly to reach you, for example, 0585 397 288. People outside Vietnam need to dial +84 plus your number without the first zero, for example, +84 585 397 288

Extension of validity
These cards can be refilled at the telecom operator’s site for an extension of validity. These refills will generally be more expensive than the rates paid to TSIM. However, we are not in a position to aid you in extending the validity of the card.
APN Setting
For most devices, this SIM card does not require any APN configuration to access Internet. iPhones rarely require any APN setting. However, some Android based devices may require you to manually configure their APN in order to access Internet correctly. If you have an Android OS based device, and your phone can make calls and receive texts, but cannot access Internet, please try to configure the APN based on the following instructions:

Sim card started working immediately after the aircraft touch down at Ho Chi Minh airport. Data speed was good and WhatsApp incoming and outgoing calls are excellent. Very reliable. Sim delivery was within a day.

I purchased this sim on January 23rd for travel to Vietnam between Feb1st to Feb8th. I landed in Vietnam at Ho Chi Minh and tried connecting to the network as i wanted to use Grab from the airport to get to my hotel. While the sim showed me network availability – it didnt allow me to connect to the network. I tried endlessly for a couple of hours. I was also talking to the Tsim representatives during this time trying to get a resolution. Unfortunately the sim just refused to work. After a few hours wasted in trying to get it to work, the Tsim folks offered me a full refund since the sim was simply not working. I just got myself a local sim then which i used for the rest of my trip.
So based on my experience.
1. Tsim is reliable and at least tried to help me with the connectivity issue failing which they returned my money – which makes me trust them.
2. I would not recommend this particular sim as based on my experience it is unreliable.
3. Getting a local sim in Vietnam was easy and worked fine without a breeze. Just a side note, the price of the sim in Vietnam was only slightly cheaper than purchasing it online via Tsim. Kudos to you guys for being honest to your customers.

I guess it was a good idea to take a SIM from India, though we eventually bought local sims there for the rest of the folks who were traveling with us. We did use this mainly for data thru hotspot and it worked well across.
Most of the local sims are sold without asking for any documents in Vietnam and there is always a risk of getting locked out with no solution except for buying a new SIM. We bought this as additionally as a back up in such situation (which never arised)
