Using the SIM Card

Using the SIM Card for the first time
  1. Power off your phone
  2. Insert your new SIM card
  3. Power on your phone
  4. Ensure that roaming is turned on your phone.
  5. Your phone should connect on a GSM/WCDMA/LTE network.

Please also note, using this SIM card to surf Internet or make calls outside covered countries will significantly reduce the data and voice usage capacity, or even cause the SIM card to stop functioning.

Receiving calls

People anywhere in the world can dial your UK or French number directly to reach you, for example, +44774132 12345 or +33674132 12345. The local number is especially useful for booking cabs, hotels and restaurant reservations.

Making local calls

For the purposes of this card, local calls include calls to any country mentioned under “Coverage”, from any country mentioned under “Coverage”. To make such calls use the full international format. E.g. to call a UK landline number from any country use (for example) +44 207 222 1234.

What is an eSIM?

eSIM stands for “embedded” SIM which is installed in your phone by scanning a QR code or tapping a notification. If an activation date is required the QR code / Notification is sent after activation, else 24hours after completing your documentation.

eSIM Advantages

  • Easy to use: Set up your plan by scanning a simple QR code or tapping a notification.
  • Save on Shipping cost: No physical delivery requirement
  • Save on time: In a rush to travel? We will send eSIM QR Code via email. Scan it as per instructions and It will be ready to use upon arrival.
  • Keep your original SIM: The eSIM is in addition to your original SIM which will work as usual if you need it.

eSIM Disadvantages

  • Unfamiliar: Since it is a new technology expect to be learning a bit.
  • eSIM Compatible Phones: eSIM will only work in eSIM compatible phones. As a general rule, iPhone 11 and Android model 2021 and higher models are compatible with eSIM.
  • Single Use Only: Most eSIM codes can be used only once. Please do not delete the eSIM created on your phone, since it cannot be recreated on your phone or any other phone. However you can de-activate the eSIM when not needed from your settings.
  • Transfer of eSIM: To transfer an eSIM from one phone to another you must visit the store of the Operator concerned. However some USA eSIMs can be transferred from one iPhone to another.

Activating eSIM on your Device using a QR Code

Most eSIMs are installed using a QR code. The QR code is sent to you by eMail. You need an Internet connection to install an eSIM

iPhone XR, XS and newer
  1. Go to Settings, then Cellular.
  2. Select Add a plan, and the Camera app will open.
  3. Point your camera at the QR activation code until you see a message that says Installing cellular plan.
2021 Android and newer
  1. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager
  2. Tap Add mobile plan
  3. Tap Add using QR code
  4. Scan the QR activation code

Activating eSIM on your Device using an Operator Notification

T-mobile, AT&T and some other operators make it even simpler to install eSIMs. They send a notification directly to your phone. Just tap on the notification and follow the instructions as in images below. The notification is sent to the phone you intend to use on your trip for which you have given us the EID and IMEI number by dialing *#06#.

    Drawbacks – 1. it’s an international call for even local guys calling you because it’s a UK number +44.
    2. India calling not convenient because of 2 stage dialling. U have to key in the number after dialling the access number.

    Absolutely amazing service by Tsim! The sim activated on arrival as promised (needs reboot once or twice/don’t forget to turn on international roaming and primary sim). The two stage dial was convenient, just dial the given two stage number followed by the Indian no. with country code. It worked every time. The coverage was too good, beyond my expectation. Right from small rural areas in Italy to top of Swiss mountains. The usage logged was fair, even with heavy usage I consumed about 5GB data in 13 days. I would definitely recommend Tsim to anyone going for a trip to Europe and looking for a local sim.

    Received the sim on time. Too many messages and email about dispatch and delivery. Too few messages about the actual phone number of the sim. I had to really work hard to find out the sim number.

    I had opted for 10gb data and unlimited calls. However upon activation I found out it is 300 minutes of call ( not unlimited) but 50gb of data ( instead of 10gb).
    So I started using the sim liberally thinking that I have 50gb data.
    Then at 9gb usage I get a message that I have already used 90% of the data, as it was on roaming apparently.
    Luckily it was towards the end of trip, so it was ok. But this could easily confuse others and become an issue.

In the option you took the data available is higher in Spain (currently 50GB) and the message you received from the operator was about that limit. However in rest of Europe you get 10GB which is the limit we quote. We are constantly trying to improve our communication about the plan and feedback such as yours is invaluable in this process.     TSIM delivered the SIM in just 3 days. On reaching Paris airport, it got activated automatically. Speed was 4G at most of the locations in France and Italy. Coverage was also available more than 95% of the time I required. Overall it was worth. However, I would have been happy had there been any package of value around Rs 1000/- with proportionate data and voice, because this Rs 2000+ package, much of the data and voice was left waste for me.

    Answered by the admin The Orange SIM will automatically activate once connected to the network in the coverage country. Although the packaging mentions 8GB, the plan has been upgraded by the operator to 12GB. All requisite information like phone number, PIN etc is mentioned in the pamphlet.

Do NOT DELETE the eSIM once installed as the eSIM cannot be re installed if QR code already scanned once. You will need to buy a new SIM.

    Yes! You will need to provide your Passport Copy (photo page + address page copy) & Visa copy. The link to upload these documents would have been sent to you after successfully placing the order. The SIM automatically activates when you insert the SIM in any covered country. Your validity period begins when the card is activated.

It involves using TSIM Calling Service wherein users dial a UK Access Number & when prompted dial their India number in full international format. E.g. 912224216344. Details also sent alongwith the order. All of these plans are good to use in Europe. These plans have have varying amounts of data & talktime. You can select the plan according to your needs.
