Activation process

You need to specify an activation date for these cards. No activation on Sundays. Your phone number will be sent to you only after activation. Your validity period begins when the card is activated, due to which we suggest to activate only the day before you travel.

Using the SIM Card

Using the SIM Card for the first time
  1. Power off your phone
  2. Insert your new SIM card
  3. Power on your phone
  4. Your phone should connect on a GSM/WCDMA/LTE network.
Coverage

Our cheaper SIM cards work on the T mobile network, either directly or through their partners. T mobile is an ultra fast network, however its remote area coverage lags that of AT&T. If you intend to visit many remote areas in the USA, such as Alaska, natural beauty spots, national parks etc, you may want to consider our SIM cards that use the AT&T network, marked (High Coverage).

Receiving calls

People in USA can dial your number directly to reach you, for example, 1 804 555 1233; People outside USA need to add + to your number, for example, +1 804 555 1233

Calling a number in North America

Dial the 11 digit  number directly;  for example, call number 1 804 555 1233 directly. You can also add + to the number before dialing. There is no distinction between a landline number and a mobile number in North America

Calling India using Direct Dial

Dial “011” or “+” + country code + phone number. For example, to call India number 022 24216344, dial “01191 22 24216344” or +91 22 24216344.

Calling India using 2 stage dialing (for High Coverage cards):

Dial USA Access Number +13476701779 & when prompted dial the India number in full international format. E.g. 912224216344).

Emergency Call Number: 911

Please dial “911” to report an emergency. They will ask you your location and the nature of the emergency. There are penalties for calling this number when not in emergency situations.

Extension of validity

These cards can be refilled at the telecom operator’s site for an extension of validity. The telecom operator name is mentioned on the SIM card that you receive. These refills will generally be more expensive than the rates paid to TSIM.

APN Setting

APN setting is automatic and should not require to be set manually. In case of no data initially please restart your phone and wait for a few minutes.

eSIM Details

What is an eSIM?

eSIM stands for “embedded” SIM which is installed in your phone by scanning a QR code or tapping a notification. If an activation date is required the QR code / Notification is sent after activation, else 24hours after completing your documentation.

eSIM Advantages

  • Easy to use: Set up your plan by scanning a simple QR code or tapping a notification.
  • Save on Shipping cost: No physical delivery requirement
  • Save on time: In a rush to travel? We will send eSIM QR Code via email. Scan it as per instructions and It will be ready to use upon arrival.
  • Keep your original SIM: The eSIM is in addition to your original SIM which will work as usual if you need it.

eSIM Disadvantages

  • Unfamiliar: Since it is a new technology expect to be learning a bit.
  • eSIM Compatible Phones: eSIM will only work in eSIM compatible phones. As a general rule, iPhone 11 and Android model 2021 and higher models are compatible with eSIM.
  • Single Use Only: Most eSIM codes can be used only once. Please do not delete the eSIM created on your phone, since it cannot be recreated on your phone or any other phone. However you can de-activate the eSIM when not needed from your settings.
  • Transfer of eSIM: To transfer an eSIM from one phone to another you must visit the store of the Operator concerned. However some USA eSIMs can be transferred from one iPhone to another.

Activating eSIM on your Device using a QR Code

Most eSIMs are installed using a QR code. The QR code is sent to you by eMail. You need an Internet connection to install an eSIM

iPhone XR, XS and newer
  1. Go to Settings, then Cellular.
  2. Select Add a plan, and the Camera app will open.
  3. Point your camera at the QR activation code until you see a message that says Installing cellular plan.
2021 Android and newer
  1. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager
  2. Tap Add mobile plan
  3. Tap Add using QR code
  4. Scan the QR activation code

Activating eSIM on your Device using an Operator Notification

T-mobile, AT&T and some other operators make it even simpler to install eSIMs. They send a notification directly to your phone. Just tap on the notification and follow the instructions as in images below. The notification is sent to the phone you intend to use on your trip for which you have given us the EID and IMEI number by dialing *#06#.

    We purchased the 15GB high coverage SIM and it was delivered to us within 3 days. We didn’t face any connectivity issues in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Merced, San Francisco and bay area. We did face some connectivity issues in Yosemite but that was still better than other operators.
    A limitation we experienced with TSIM is that the phone number associated with SIM is available only when you land in US. This was an issue as we had services with which we wanted to share a US contact number but couldn’t because of this limitation. We found a workaround by sharing emails wherever we could and made it work. Deducting 1 star for this limitation.
    In case the SIM you purchase doesn’t work, TSIM has a whatsapp support number which is very helpful. TSIM support responds fast when you need it.
    I would also recommend getting an eSIM though if you are going to use this SIM on an iPhone. Having an eSIM will let you operate your iPhone in a dual SIM manner.

    The purchase and delivery service was straightforward. The sim was active and working once the phone was started in the US. In NY, coverage and service are also fine. 
    I have the following problems:
    – T-sim allows ONLY monthly choice of package. There is no mention that a month is of 30 days. It don’t consider 31st day in a month. This is disastrous. Imagine if you are travelling out of a country on the last day, you won’t have a network service (dead sim). Then how to contact people and arrange travel. I informed it to T-sim several times, but there is NO positive action from them.
    – T-sim mention ONLY T-mobile and AT&T network on the website. But in reality most of the time the delivered sim is of Lyca mobile. Though mobile selects service from T-mobile and Lyca automatically.
    – When I reported problem above #1 to Lyca, they said they had nothing to do with this or T-sim. LYCA REFUSED TO HAVE ANY CONNECTION WITH T-SIM. This is horrible. So, I am in trouble with my 4 months plan, I WILL NOT HAVE A NETWORK/SERVICE IN THE LAST THREE DAYS OF MY STAY IN THE US. BOTH T-sim or Lyca said they CAN’T do anything about it. THIS IS A CHEATING and FRAUD. The number of days option is given in other plans, but not for the USA.

    Plz be careful while selecting plan.

    A HSPA+ is marketed as 4G by all US operators. AT&T offers good 3G and HSPA+ connectivity and speeds will be upto 3 Mbps. AT&T is best suited for 3G since most Indian phones support UMTS Band 1 and 5.T-Mobile only supports Band 1 in 3G also and that is 50% coverage only even for 3G 4G LTE coverage by majority of Indian phones is non-existent since the bands are completely different. As of now I know of only iPhone and One Plus 5 which supports the 4G LTE bands in USA

    There is no cap on the number of calls made to India for the LycaMobile and T Mobile USA SIM cards. The H2O card however has unlimited calls only to the first 10 India numbers.

    The topup and extension of validity can be done at the service provider's site.  TSIM is unable to assist in this process, and the rates will be in general higher than that provided for the first month by TSIM.

    These cards can be refilled at the telecom operator’s site for an extension of validity. The telecom operator name is mentioned on the SIM card that you receive.
